cross-border commerce flourishes between professionals.<\/strong><\/p>\n by bill teague<\/em> with international initiatives emerging as one of the aicpa’s key strategies,\u00a0 the u.s.-mexico relationship may serve as a model of friendship.<\/p>\n international cooperation was apparent up close and in action at the u.s.-mexico conference in may, co-presented by the san diego chapter of the california society of cpas (calcpa) and their counterparts, the colegio de contadores publicos de baja california.<\/p>\n at the conference, aicpa president melancon, appearing for the first time since the conference’s inception over 15 years ago, praised the work between the two societies.<\/p>\n \u201cit\u2019s a tribute to what\u2019s going on from a commerce perspective,\u201d he said. \u201cwe appreciate the leadership of the calcpa in these cross-border relationships.\u201d melancon noted the annual conference has been in existence since 1995.<\/p>\n joint summit<\/strong><\/p>\n melancon reported on the joint summit that had taken place may 20, with the instituto de mexico contadores publicos\u2019s president, luis michel dominguez.<\/p>\n \u201cwe had a great summit with imcp president luis michel,\u201d melancon said, praising him and other \u201ctrue leaders on the international stage\u201d representing mexico. \u201cwe have forged a very nice relationship, meeting each year for several years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n the conference was marked by this kind of balance. presentations were in either spanish or english, with simultaneous translation available by headset.<\/p>\n
