how to write a great tag line<\/strong><\/p>\nbelieve it or not, it\u2019s best not to be cute while doing a tag line. if it\u2019s too cute, people won\u2019t be able to tell what you\u2019re selling. you\u2019ll confuse the visitor, they won\u2019t find what they want and you\u2019ll have lost that sale. so don\u2019t be cute.<\/p>\n
examples of bad tag lines:<\/p>\n
\n- aviary: winging it (you can\u2019t tell what they do)<\/li>\n
- paperless office software system: the road less littered (too stupid)<\/li>\n
- a cpa firm: you can count on us (too cute, overused)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
simply tell what it is you do and, if possible, build your main benefit into your tag line. you can also build a characteristic of yourself into your tag line. here are some good ones used by entrepreneurs:<\/p>\n
\n- larry winget: the pitbull of professional development<\/li>\n
- p.f. chang\u2019s: china bistro<\/li>\n
- skype: free internet telephony that just works<\/li>\n
- geeks on call: on-site computer solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
hopefully, you\u2019re getting the idea. spend some time on this; it\u2019s not easy. bounce it off of friends and current customers.<\/p>\n
product or service name<\/h3>\n
in accounting, hardly anyone names their services, so you will really stand out if you do this. which is more exciting? providing accounting reports or having an \u201cexecutive briefing package\u201d?<\/p>\n
it\u2019s easier to market when you have a snazzy name for your product or service. if possible, include a benefit. for example, would you rather purchase \u201cmarketing training\u201d or be part of something exclusive like accountant\u2019s accelerator?<\/p>\n
here are just a few to get you started:<\/p>\n
\n- cloud pack<\/li>\n
- contractor\u2019s pack<\/li>\n
- paperless accounting pack<\/li>\n
- money leaks analysis package<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
flier<\/h3>\n
i\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen trifold brochures where an 8.5 x 11\u201d paper is folded in three parts and you can hold it vertically to read it. these are still quite common in parts of the country. we prefer you use a flat 8.5 x 11\u201d paper where you don\u2019t fold it and you use up the entire page as one design. you can also use the back. it\u2019s more modern. if you need something to fit in an older rack, we recommend doing a single 8.5 x 3.5\u201d or so card on thick card stock.<\/p>\n
your flier\u00a0should be professionally designed and include some basics:<\/p>\n
\n- a shortened bio of you or a shortened company description<\/li>\n
- your photo or a team photo<\/li>\n
- testimonials, always<\/li>\n
- your contact information, on both sides in case it\u2019s faxed or only one side is copied<\/li>\n
- a title in the form of a question or connecting statement with your prospect. examples:\n
\n- do you wonder where all your money is going?<\/li>\n
- minimize taxes<\/li>\n
- did you receive a notice from the irs?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- a very small amount of copy to let your client know of your services and benefits<\/li>\n
- lots of graphics<\/li>\n
- lots of white space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
you can use fliers at networking meetings, trade shows, in your prospect kit, in displays at your chamber and in your office waiting room.<\/p>\n
prospect kit<\/h3>\n
a prospect kit is a handout you can send to prospects so they can find out more about you. you can generate it in pdf and deliver it via email so you don\u2019t have to print anything.<\/p>\n

- client outcomes and list of services<\/li>\n
- list of testimonials, clients and\/or industries served<\/li>\n
- your bio and\/or about the firm<\/li>\n
- news clippings<\/li>\n
- call to action in letter or additional flier\u00a0with special and deadline to respond<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
