off 42,200 since recession began, according to today’s bls estimates.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n the number of americans employed in accounting and bookkeeping services dropped to a seasonally adjusted 926,500 in december, down from 929,100 in november and 933,700 in december 2008 after peaking at 968,700 in 2007.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n among cpa firms<\/strong>, employment dipped to 412,900 jobs in november, the latest month available, from 414,500 in october and 436,800 in november 2008, not seasonally adjusted.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n at tax preparation services<\/strong>, job rosters rose to a not-seasonally adjusted 62,300 in november, from 53,900 in october and 49,100 in november 2008.<\/p>\n at the nation’s payroll services<\/strong>, november’s not seasonally adjusted headcount rose to 173,800 from 172,900 in october, but slipped from november 2008’s 174,000.<\/p>\n \n \n
