accountants don\u2019t want just more clients, they want better ones.<\/strong><\/p>\n by 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间 research<\/em><\/p>\n some interesting early results from the 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间 outlook 2024: emerging issues, opportunities, and trends:<\/p>\n note how these two most common challenges relate to each other. a shortage of staff is linked to an excess of burnout and imbalance.<\/p>\n more: <\/b>are you offering the right services?<\/a> | which niche\u2019s the best niche?<\/a> | women-owned businesses upbeat but need help<\/a> | 42% of accountants turn away work over staff shortages<\/a> | accountants to the rescue as startups struggle<\/a> | talent gap widening: be very scared<\/a> | accountants hopeful, concerned and confused about ai<\/a> | looking for recent grads? good luck<\/a> now look:<\/p>\n and here are two more interrelated findings:<\/p>\n and look how all the above relate to this little stat:<\/p>\n all these numbers interrelate as cause and effect, action and reaction, and a shifting of challenges and objectives. and cpa firms are scrambling to adjust to the new reality. it\u2019s a pretty good reality \u2013 rising revenue, increased profit and too many clients. but, as evidenced above, the reality is not without its challenges.<\/p>\n john \u201cskip\u201d sullivan jr.<\/strong>, the principal at ask tax international<\/strong>, who\u2019s hoping to see his firm\u2019s net income rise by 20 percent in 2024, is hard pressed to make it happen.<\/p>\n \u201ci need more staff,\u201d he says. \u201cbefore the pandemic, i had a staff of 18. there was a mass exodus near the end of 2021. now i’m working with a staff of only four.\u201d<\/p>\n leaders are deploying various strategies to keep staff happy.<\/p>\n another respondent, concerned about burnout, will meet the challenge by \u201cencourag[ing] our staff to take needed time off for refreshing themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n another with the same concern will react with \u201cmore outsourcing to manage us staff hours and burnout.\u201d<\/p>\n another, who names both staffing and burnout problems, says the firm will \u201cdownsize until proper staffing and people who want to learn and work can be found,\u201d then goes on to add, \u201cthis is a pipe dream.\u201d<\/p>\n sylvie cote-hasegawa<\/strong>, with florida\u2019s strategis<\/strong>, is working smart to onboard staff. her trick: \u201cstrengthening our relationship with local colleges and universities. we have hired interns who have worked out well. but, we need to figure out how to keep them long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n paul g. grossi<\/strong>, battling burnout, is offering \u201cflexibility in staffing regarding hours, home vs. office. benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n cyndie barone<\/strong>, whose challenges are finding better clients and raising rates is \u201csaying no to people who let you know who they are right from jump.\u201d<\/p>\n burnout is the main issue for clay collum<\/strong>, at oklahoma\u2019s robison gary<\/strong>, who\u2019s taking the cull-the-clientele approach \u2013 and it\u2019s working.<\/p>\n \u201clast year we finally and very intentionally started disengaging with clients that are no longer a good fit for the firm,\u201d collum says. \u201cand for those whose billings were simply out of line, we re-bid those. almost none of those have left, even given material fee adjustments.\u201d<\/p>\n jay joshi<\/strong>, with jnj accounting<\/strong>, is taking the tech road away from burnout. he\u2019s \u201cimplementing automation for managing workflow. still not sure about how to get better clients.\u201d<\/p>\n paul miller<\/strong>\u2019s firm, business by design<\/strong>, is acknowledging that staff might have different motivations for staying on board.<\/p>\n \u201cwe have to be better at setting objectives for our staff and allow them to choose what type of work life they want,\u201d miller explains. \u201cdo they just want a job and balance? or do they want to pursue something more in the firm?\u201d<\/p>\n do these figures and quotes reflect the challenges your firm\u2019s facing? there\u2019s still time to take part in the outlook 2024 survey. just click here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<\/strong><\/p>\n
