mckervey surges with &#8216;razor-sharp focus.&#8217; <\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>now the prolific and insightful dona dezube writes about the firm&#8217;s recruiting strategies at jobsinthemoney.<\/p>\n<p><strong>what kind of recruits is the firm looking for?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><em>clayton &amp; mckervey serves only middle-market entrepreneurs who want to expand globally. such focus makes it easy to train employees, but harder to find the accountants it wants: those who already know both ifrs and gaap.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>working in such a tight niche makes it relatively easy to train employees, but harder to find accountants who already know the business. &#8220;there&#8217;s not a vast amount of accounting talent that understands ifrs (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/international_financial_reporting_standards\" title=\"international financial reporting standards\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"zem_slink\">international financial reporting standards<\/a>) as well as gaap (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/generally_accepted_accounting_principles\" title=\"generally accepted accounting principles\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"zem_slink\">generally accepted accounting principles<\/a>),&#8221; managing partner donald clayton explains.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>where does c&amp;m finds new job candidates? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.claytonmckervey.com\/aboutus\/khm.htm\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.claytonmckervey.com\/assets\/owners\/kevin_mckervey.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><em>most of clayton&#8217;s experienced hires either come from smaller firms or have transferred to<\/em><em> the detroit area.  partner kevin mckervey recruited one recent hire from china, after meeting her at an international conference. another new employee worked for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deloitte.com\/\" title=\"deloitte touche tohmatsu\" rel=\"homepage noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"zem_slink\">deloitte<\/a> in mexico for eight years, then followed her spouse to the motor city. not all hires have international experience. &#8220;we find good, tax-oriented people and we have the expertise to train them and the international assignments to keep them challenged,&#8221;
