crosley, a growth strategist for cpa firms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;a lot of firms are trying to use yesterday&#8217;s business model on tomorrow&#8217;s problems,&#8221; crosley says, describing a tectonic shift from the old, locally based, referral-driven, generalist model of getting new clients to a new model that bypasses referrals, crosses international borders, hones in on specializations and is powered by cloud technology.<\/p>\n<p>in addition, she says, firms must evolve from the &#8220;individual contributor with a book of business&#8221; (read: lone ranger rainmaker) to a &#8220;leader-driven,&#8221; &#8220;team-based&#8221; organization chart.<\/p>\n<p>the firms that understand these changes are already ahead of the game. the rest are playing
