covid brings more and better client communication

ppp and cares: big opportunities to be trusted advisors.

by carrie steffen

the year 2019 seems like a lifetime ago and yet, as i reflect on the year it was, it strikes me that some of the trends we saw clients embrace positioned some firms to pivot more quickly in 2020 than others.

while any risk stance should always be the decision of the clients, we asked this question in a recent joint accountant’s accelerator / 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间 ppp survey: on average, across all of your clients, how aggressive of a stance are you taking with ppp forgiveness?

we asked 600+ survey respondents to choose a number between zero and 100 where zero is conservative or extremely risk-avoidant and 100 is aggressive or extremely risk-tolerant. the mean was 42, or slightly more conservative than aggressive.

software saves the 2020 tax season

survey says tax practitioners have never been so satisfied with their tax prep applications.

by 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间

what’s the best word to describe the infamous 2020 tax season?

brutal? infectious? interesting? perpetual? weird?

one word works for everybody: unprecedented. a pandemic. a lockdown. new legislation. new rules. federal programs. federal disasters. bankruptcies.

it seems the only thing that’s gone right is software.

the bottom line: tax practitioners have never been more satisfied with their tax apps.

non-cpa “cpa” firms? really?

what the aicpa and nasba could learn from other professions.

by donny c. shimamoto, cpa.citp, cgma

i’ve been watching nasba and the aicpa communicate the need for a change to the requirements to be cpa. while their rationale may seem to make sense, i’m not sure i agree with their direction  – enabling more non-accountants to be cpas.
