payroll is proving to a bright spot and women are making some impressive gains in our look at employment in the accounting profession. the latest 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间 jobs report also finds that tax preparation services employment spiked in march, even when seasonally adjusted.

at another firm, “politics and lack of leadership at present employer” is driving one staffer to look for a job.

another staffer is even more desperate, saying “the owner is suffering from memory loss.”

for others, it’s been their last tax season. “i’m ready to retire,” says one.

another has made a lifestyle of changing firms every tax season, saying “i work only for tax season and change employers each year so i can see a new city.”

nationally in march, according to the latest data, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.8 percent.

the accounting profession boasted 1,041,700 employees in march – the third month of record highs – up 3,900 or 0.4 percent for the month and 40,500 or 4 percent for the year. they worked an average 36.3 hours per week, up 6 minutes or 0.3 percent for the month and 24 minutes or 1.1 percent for the year. they earned an average $33.87 an hour, down 9 cents or 0.3 percent for the month but up $1.27 or 3.9 percent for the year.

staff totaled 780,900 after five months of growth, up 600 or 0.1 percent for the month and 35,700 or 4.8 percent for the year. they worked 34.5 weekly hours, down 6 minutes for the month but up 6 minutes for the year, a 0.3 percent swing each way. they made $26.46 an hour, down 9 cents or 0.3 percent for the month but up 98 cents or 3.8 percent for the year.

cpa firms

employees at cpa firms numbered 488,900, up 3,100 or 0.6 percent for the month and 14,500 or 3.1 percent for the year. they averaged 37.6 hours per week, up 6 minutes or 0.3 percent for the month and half an hour or 1.3 percent for the year. they earned an average $35.84 an hour, down 26 cents or 0.7 percent for the month but up 77 cents or 2.2 percent for the year.

staff at cpa firms totaled 355,300, up 1,900 or 0.5 percent for the month and 7,400 or 2.1 percent for the year. they worked 36 weekly hours, down 18 minutes or 0.8 percent for the month and 6 minutes or 0.3 percent for the year. they made $27.33 an hour, up 3 cents or 0.1 percent for the month and 53 cents or 2 percent for the year.

tax preparation services employed 100,200, up 400 or 0.4 percent for the month and 6,700 or 7.2 percent for the year.

payroll services employed 187,100, up 2,000 or 1.1 percent for the month and 16,900 or 9.9 percent for the year. they worked 35.3 hours, flat for the month and down 12 minutes or 0.6 percent for the year. they earned an average $29.87 per hour, the fifth straight month of small declines, down 8 cents or 0.3 percent for the month but up 33 cents or 1.1 percent for the year.

payroll staff numbered 154,700, down 1,900 or 1.2 percent for the month but up 12,300 or 8.6 percent for the year. they averaged 34.9 hours, down 6 minutes for the month and 48 minutes for the year, respective declines of 0.3 and 2.2 percent. wages at $26.85 were flat for the month and up 64 cents or 2.4 percent for the year.

women

women in the profession number 659,300, up 8,400 or 1.3 percent for the month and 40,700 or 6.6 percent for the year. there are 302,700 women in cpa firms, up 2,600 or 0.9 percent for the month and 11,300 or 3.9 percent for the year. in payroll, the numbers have swung considerably over the past few months but most recently stood at 92,200, up 6,900 or 8.1 percent for the month and 9,400 or 11.4 percent for the year.
