“we need to stay current, not just in knowing the technology, but how consumers are using it and making decisions,” kovacs says. “especially since the pandemic, the digital brand experience has become essential. understanding that digital brand experience is essential. “it’s a never-ending challenge. it’s exciting but also a little terrifying sometimes.”

joe kovacs is director of marketing and business development at councilor, buchanan & mitchell (cbm). he has extensive experience in the accounting marketing profession, having served for 10 years at another mid-sized firm before joining cbm in january 2017.
kovacs directs marketing and business development initiatives to advance cbm’s growth potential among select audiences. these include co-managing the firm’s niche marketing initiatives with team leaders, strategic market planning to accelerate firm-wide visibility through print and digital marketing initiatives, branding, and public relations, and collaborating with team members in support of their business development pursuits.
kovacs has 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations, and professional communications. in addition to his experience in the accounting marketing profession, he has served as director of communications for an international non-governmental organization, managed public relations and community outreach strategies for an engineering consulting firm and a colorado school district, and served in marketing and press relations roles for two nonprofits in washington, dc.
