we could all use a little more support, and you have outsourcing options galore in today’s tech-connected world. here are a few of my favorites:
my favorite support team, fancy hands, employs a stable of u.s.-based virtual assistants who take annoying little tasks off your list so you can concentrate on getting work done. fancy hands helps me set appointments, track down lost mail, transcribe business cards, create cool graphics, research tech tools… you name it, all kinds of little 20-minute tasks that can take me out of work mode and make me lose more time. prices start at $18 a month for up to three tasks.
need to build a new website? or create a fancy intro video that makes your logo dance? or revamp your marketing material? fiverr is a marketplace of thousands of people who do all kinds of stuff starting at five bucks (a fiver, get it?). these days, you’ll find lots of pros that charge much more than $5, but it’s because they truly are professionals.
for bigger projects, check out upwork. describe your project and set the parameters: your budget, your timeline, your hopes and dreams for a successful project, etc. then you open your project for bids in the marketplace. you might want to search the providers and invite your favorites to bid to find the right person. for example, if you’re commissioning an illustration, hop around in their portfolios and find a designer with a style you like.
