tax preparation services
tax prep declined for the third straight month to 96,300, down 800 or 0.8 percent for the month but up 3,000 or 3.2 percent for the year.
payroll services
payroll services employed 204,100, up 1,500 or 0.7 percent for the month and 17,500 or 9.4 percent for the year. employees averaged 36.9 hours, up 6 minutes or 0.3 percent for the month and half an hour or 1.4 percent for the year. hourly earnings at $36.59 dropped to their lowest point since q1 2021, down $1.88 or 4.9 percent for the month and $2.87 or 7.3 percent for the year.
staff in payroll totaled 166,800, down 1,000 or 0.6 percent for the month but up 13,300 or 8.7 percent for the year. they worked 36.6 hours, up 12 minutes or 0.5 percent for the month but down 42 minutes or 1.9 percent for the year. earnings of $30.17 were down 50 cents or 1.6 percent for the month and 7 cents or 0.2 percent for the year.
bookkeeping
other accounting services had 294,100 employees, the seventh month of small gains, up 2,100 or 0.7 percent for the month and 14,400 or 5.1 percent for the year.
women
women in accounting numbered 710,500, up 3,300 or 0.5 percent for the month and 35,500 or 5.3 percent for the year. they held 315,400 spots in cpa firms, up 1,900 or 0.6 percent for the month and 6,500 or 2.1 percent for the year. in payroll services women numbered 103,800, a new high and up 4,000 or 4 percent for the month, 11,500 or 12.5 percent for the year.
