professionals spend about three hours a day mucking around in email. one way to clear out your inbox is to make use of the snooze features in outlook and gmail or whatever email tool you’re using.
what do i use? i’m glad you asked.
i prefer a service called followupthen. when i have an email in my inbox that i don’t need to deal with right away, i can simply forward to an email address like:
“twoweeks@followupthen.com” or
“friday@followupthen.com”
…or any other time period that i need to snooze the email. at the appropriate time, the email comes back, and i can either deal with it or snooze it again. the service has lots of little features (paid and free) that let you create tasks, wait for responses, get regular reminders and more. you can even remind everyone on an email string by ccing your @followupthen.com address in an exchange.
