following rising costs and decreasing margins over the last 12 months, with an increasingly commoditized us advertising market, sift, the owner of accountingweb based in bristol, uk, has made the decision to close its us operations on sept. 1.

despite the successful launch of its first event, accountingweb live summit, looking ahead to 2023 as the us enters a recession, the position is not set to improve.

accountingweb.com has been in the us accounting and financial space for 23 years as a respected and trusted resource for thousands of accounting, bookkeeping and tax professionals.

sift ceo tom dunkerley said, “it’s been an incredible journey, with so many talented people working in and around the brand over the years. i’d like to thank everyone who has supported us – our loyal clients, our freelance writers and contributors, our wider supplier ecosystem and, of course, the accounting professionals who have found our content useful and helped us to build a unique community.”

sift will continue to serve the accounting profession via its accountingweb sister brand in the united kingdom, with a focus on growing the digital marketing, subscription and events business.
