one of the challenges with amps, especially with wordpress sites, is you are limited to what may and may not be added to the simple format. for example, small email opt-in forms, facebook like boxes and other dynamic scripts will not work.

how to set up amp in wordpress:
- begin by installing the amp plugin.
- once activated, from the left sidebar, choose appearance > amp. this step will show you what your site will look like on a mobile device. you can change the header background and text colors. the header background color will also be used in links.
- click the save button.
if you get a 404 error when you try to view the amp version, go to settings > permalinks from the left navigation bar, and click save changes. that action simply refreshes the site’s permalink structure.
you can also track how well your amps are doing by vising the google search console (i.e., webmaster tools). once there, click search appearance > accelerated mobile pages. results could take a while to accumulate, so don’t be worried if there is nothing there the first week or so.
if you want to customize the pages even more, use the glue for yoast seo and amp plugin. once installed, visit the seo > amp setting to configure your changes. remember, the site does have limited functionality, so it won’t work exactly like the desktop version.
