among cpa firms, employment dipped to 412,900 jobs in november, the latest month available, from 414,500 in october and 436,800 in november 2008, not seasonally adjusted.

at tax preparation services, job rosters rose to a not-seasonally adjusted 62,300 in november, from 53,900 in october and 49,100 in november 2008.

bls dec 09 payroll servicesat the nation’s payroll services, november’s not seasonally adjusted headcount rose to 173,800 from 172,900 in october, but slipped from november 2008’s 174,000.

    it is not that accounting is only down a few thousand, but if you considered what employment would be in an expanding field, then actual employment is down a lot from what it could have been
